The September 2013 Adventure

Psalm 19:1-4 “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,”

If you have a choice and you are flying to AK I would recommend that you go through Seattle. It can be a long shot but if the weather is right you get to see sights like this. I would also suggest that you book a window seat on the right side (facing the front of the plane.) iI by good fortune the skies are clear the view is amazing. (Book left side coming back.)

Once again the rivers in the Mat-Su Valley (Parks Highway) were high so I had no opportunity to fish even though I did make the effort.

Brent got off the Slope on Thursday, Sept 12 and we stayed in Anchorage until Sunday the 15th. We headed down to the KP (Kenai Peninsula) after church and got ready to fish hard for the week. (actually Brent had to head back to Anchorage on Tuesday and he had to take a physical for a new job.) He, Bregitte and the girls came back later in the week, twice actually!

This is where we camped in the Russian River campground. Notice no snow on the Mts.

This is the Russian River. There are lots of other places to fish but we love the Russian.

Bows like this are the main reason we love it!

We did fish the Bear Braids on the Kenai one day and I got my biggest bow and the biggest fish of the trip.

This was an awesome Dolly Varden!

A big change came in the weather the week-end of 21st. Cooled way down and started to rain and snow just like we love. Got down to 27 one morning – ice in the rod guides.

As usual had a great trip. Nothing like being with the family. Plans for next year are up in the air. The Lord really blessed us with the little RV. It has performed great and allows us both transportation and housing.
