Dry Run Creek Bonanza!

If there is a better place to take kids fishing than Dry Run Creek I don’t know where it is!!!

My grandson John Paul had a fantastic three days there the end of May. The cicadid “hatch” was in full swing. The fish were eager takers early in the morning. But as with most fly patterns on Dry Run you have to change the fly pretty often. It is actually one of the keys to consistently catching fish. It also become more difficult to keep them biting once the sun hits the water. Fortunately we had good cloud cover until later in the morning.

Also had a rare occurrence. Got checked by a Game Warden! David was a nice “young” man. You hear horror stories about how they check your flies for being barbless. But he just watched us catch and release a couple of fish and looked at the fly and said, “You are good to go.”

We left on Saturday only to get home and find out the area had been decimated by a tornado and high winds. Looks like our place was spared, Gives us a reason to go back and check!

God Bless!

John Paul did catch all of these fish:)
